Sustainable Packaging Design
As a member of Repak we thank you for your valued contribution over the past twenty years in helping Ireland bring packaging recycling from 15% in 1997 to 67% today.
We have now entered a new era in the environmental management of packaging and plastic waste packaging in particular. The new Circular Economy Package and the Circular Economy Plastic Strategy now require us all to re-evaluate how we manage our plastic packaging waste.
The EU recently set out a vision for a new plastics economy in Europe where by 2030: –
- Plastics and products containing plastics are designed to allow for greater durability, reuse and high-quality recycling.
- 100% of plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable or compostable.
- Targets for plastics recycling within the new packaging waste legislation are set at 55% by 2030.
- Viable end markets for recycled and renewable plastics to be created and more products incorporate recycled content.
Therefore as your packaging compliance scheme we are looking for the support of our members in signing up to Ireland’s Pledge on Plastic Packaging Waste many of which are aligned with your own environmental policies.
Your pledge will help Ireland to achieve these targets and therefore make a real difference in achieving the vision as set for a plastics economy for Ireland and Europe.
Once signed please keep a copy to display at your premises and email a copy to email@example.com. Alternatively you can return it by post to:-

As part of Repak’s ‘Prevent and Save’ programme we have accumulated lots of great case studies in best practice and innovation. This section of the website is designed to capture all those ideas under each material grouping. It is intended to offer some fresh approaches to packaging challenges which our member companies often experience.
We are always seeking new case studies and feedback to further build this section so please keep us informed of any recent innovations your own company has made to optimise their packaging.
