Repak  

A Repak report on the dynamics of the product supply chain has identified the factors which frequently determine the quantity and type of packaging used on common products, and highlights many of the dilemmas in the quest for packaging optimisation.

The project sough to identify and understanding the factors which contribute to the decision-making process in packaging and packaging design. It examined a number of common products, and worked back through the supply chain and studied the factors and dynamics of packaging decisions, including who makes decisions, for what reasons and in accordance with what requirements. It enquired if these decisions and design decisions could be changed and if there are barriers to such changes.

The project was carried out by Perchards, a consultancy firm with broad experience in packaging legislation, and was completed in February 2008.
